“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine.”
From this scripture came our mission statement…relying on God’s power working in us, imagine the Impact, we can have Now on our Kids and families. The Vision Statement is to reach and teach children so they will learn to:
-
Love God
-
Live 4 God and
-
Lead others 2 God!
On a typical Sunday morning at Harrison, the children’s and youth areas get pretty busy! You will find childcare for babies and toddlers under two, plus Sunday School programs for pre-schoolers, elementary age children and youth during the 9:15am and 11:00am service times.
Harrison UMC is a Safe Sanctuary church. To review our policy, click on this link Harrison’s Safe Sanctuary Policy Revised 2012.
Babies, Pre-schoolers and Kindergarteners Our nursery, pre-school and kindergarten rooms are located in Buidling 200. You can enter through the right side door next to the Sanctuary and follow the nautical themed walls to the pre-school area. Our nursery is the second room on your right. Our nursery workers are there to receive and care for your child (up to toddlers) while you attend the worship service. Please mark any items you leave (i.e., diaper bag, bottle or Sippy cup, etc.) with your child’s name. Lots of toys will help entertain your child. Cribs and rocking chairs are available if naptime comes along. You will be offered a pager, which will be used if you are needed in the nursery for any reason.Classes for Toddlers, 2′s, 3′s, 4′s, and Kindergarteners meet in the rooms just down the hall from the nursery. Look for the banners above the doors to find the appropriate room. Classes for these age groups focus on Bible stories, crafts, and having fun through play. There are two different curriculum offered, one at 9:15, the other at 11:00 so if you wish to participate in Worship and an adult Sunday School class your child will be well cared for and challenged.
Children in 1st through 5th Grades: During the 9:15 worship hour, Sunday School classes for elementary age children (grades 1-5)take place on the 1st floor of Building 100. The classrooms are located at the far end of the hall and are clearly marked by grade level. When you drop off your child at one of these rooms, please take a moment to sign them in on the sign-in sheet found on a table outside of the classroom. Curriculum for these classes are age appropriate and focus on learning about the Old and New Testaments, Jesus and the miracles He performed.
inkWELL is offered to those in 1st-5th grades during our 11:00 worship hour in Hammill Hall. This is a great way for your children to learn about the Bible and the importance of reading it often. They are challenged weekly by the crafts and games before and after the service and then they all participate in a fun, fast-paced time of singing, dancing and learning of God’s Word. They also take home assignments to encourage them to become familiar with reading the Bible and growing in faith. Read More about inkWELL
