What You Told Us
In our congregational survey we asked members of Harrison to tell us of their interest in a ministry focused on addiction, prevention and recovery. Following are some of the findings from that survey given in August, 2007.
88% said that it is very important for the faith community to help those who may have problems with alcohol or drugs.
88% said they would support our congregation offering programs about addictions.
41% said that they would feel somewhat confident talking with someone about their addiction problems.
54% said they do not know who to go to in the congregation to get help for someone who has an alcohol, drug or other addiction.
56% said that they have been affected by a family member with an alcohol abuse problem.
86% said they would support our congregation offering programs about recovery.
84% said they would support our congregation offering programs about prevention.
Our team is currently composed of 12 members who know what it means to experience the pain caused by addiction in our lives and the lives of our families and friends. We also know what it’s like to experience God’s healing grace and recovery from addiction.
