Youth Ministry

The purpose of the HUMYF Ministry (Harrison United Methodist Youth Fellowship) is to reach out to our community and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ through service and love, to build a friendly community for young people to enjoy and glorify God, and to train and prepare them to live Christ-like lives in our present culture.

We have activities and programming for spiritual growth, fun, and service. Our main gathering time is on Sunday Night. “Sunday Night Live” is a mix of games, food, fellowship, video, drama and Bible study. This is a great starting point for those interested in finding out more about what we do.

Our group of middle and high school students is very diverse. You will find a place to connect with other students who share common interests. Our students attend many schools in the Charlotte, Pineville and Fort Mill communities. There is a very good chance that you will find someone who attends the same school that you do. Our main objective is for students to develop a relationship with Christ. Our ministry and church provides many ways to worship, fellowship, and serve.

Youth opportunities include but are not limited to student leadership, Sunday School, confirmation classes (starts in the fall), small groups, local and foreign mission trips/projects (Columbia, SC, Mexico and Jamaica), Charlotte Rescue Mission, multi-media, audio tech, media presentation, Flash/Media Shout, video production and editing, Youth Praise Band, handbells, fundraising, retreats, conferences, summer camp, and special events like white water rafting, skiing, laser tag, bowling, lock-ins, pool parties, movie nights, soncerts, and more.

We have a full staff of adult volunteers that are committed to building relationships, and providing a safe environment for our students to enjoy. Our adult leaders are a diverse group and we feel confident that we can reach out effectively to a wide variety of students from different backgrounds and interests. We are very intentional about training our adult leaders with the best resources available, and are committed to providing a safe environment for our students (Safe Sanctuary). We are passionate about equipping our adult leaders and students for future ministry. It is important to us to prepare the next generation to carry on the message and work of Christ. So come and check us out. We hope that you will find a home here at Harrison United Methodist Church.
