One Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
Ephesians 4: 5-6
At Harrison UMC, we celebrate two sacraments: Holy Communion and Baptism. We believe that Baptism is a one time sacrament of initiation into the church.
Infant baptism
When we baptize infants, we are recognizing that, as children of believing parents, they have a place in the covenant community of God’s people. For an infant to be baptized at Harrison UMC, one of the parents should be a member of the church.
Adult baptism
We recognize the baptisms of other Christian denominations as valid. If you were baptized as an infant, then your public profession of faith upon joining the church makes it complete. If you were, or will be baptized as an adult, then your baptism serves as your public profession of faith in Jesus Christ.
We hold our baptism services on a quarterly basis in the Sanctuary. Below are the dates for upcoming baptism ceremonies:
2012 Dates
February 19 during Sunday morning services
May 20 at 4 pm in the Sanctuary
August 12 during Sunday morning services
November 4 at 4 pm in the Sanctuary
The deadline for registration for baptism is one week prior to the date of the baptism ceremony.
