Harrison Church is a welcoming community rooted in worship and authentic connection. We LOVE radically like Jesus, GROW deeply in the Holy Spirit, and passionately SERVE God together.
God is the creator, the heart and passion behind everything, the giver of life, and one who always loves us and invites us into love with God and with others.
Jesus Christ is our Lord and compassionate savior. Jesus is tender, compassionate, and always found ways to eradicate barriers between neighbors and enemies. Jesus is God in flesh; God became human to demonstrate the depth and breadth of love for us so that we would have an example of how to compassionately and purposefully love one another, while always being drawn back to God’s heart.
The Holy Spirit not only works in enlightening us about our sinfulness but also is at work in empowering and enabling us in our restoration of holiness in life. The Spirit sends us to meet neighbors where they are. The Spirit, whom we receive through our baptisms, fills us so that we are enlivened to give our all through prayer, presence, gifts, service, and storytelling of God’s love at work in our lives
We all are beloved children of God – everyone is, no exception. We all are wounded, beautiful, and beloved. And thanks be to God, we all are recipients of God’s tireless love, mercy, and grace. Due to this, we are called to be merciful, compassionate, graceful, and tender to all whom we engage day to day, so that we bring hope and joy into our communities.
The Church is beyond brick and mortar, and it is that too. It’s a gathering location for growth in love, comfort, and relationships that lead to generational transformation. We are part of The United Methodist Church, a global institution connected, caring, and persistent in welcoming all of God’s beloved children. We celebrate that the church is most importantly comprised of the people who gather and then are sent into our world to close the gap between the way things are and the way they ought to be according to God’s tender love.
The Bible is a book that God inspired that contains stories of love, growth, and service. We believe the Bible challenges and encourages us to draw closer to God so that we will draw closer to our neighbors with hearts of love, compassion, and tenderness. The Bible begs for curiosity, lived experiences, asking good questions, consideration of the sciences, attentiveness to history, and being good listeners of how God is using the stories and examples as a life-giving way to live in a welcoming, loving community.
Reconciliation and justice matter to us. We will never rest until all God’s children, regardless of race, background, economic status, sexual orientation, or nationality, are blessed with the goodness God has given us all. We are advocates and allies, resisting evil and oppression wherever they manifest themselves.
Ministry is a way of life, a commitment to walk closely with one another heart in heart and hand in hand, and to respond with the love and passion of Jesus Christ so that we are closing the gap between the way things are and the way they ought to be.
