My heart is hurting, still, from the events of last week. My head is spinning. I will leave the politics to other people, but when we see, as we did last week, an attempt to use Jesus to justify violence; or when we view Christian symbols alongside symbols of racism and/or insurrection, I am called to address it.
I know that all of the protesters last week did not violently enter the Capitol building. I am aware of the political fallout following last Wednesday. I am grateful for our 1st Amendment Rights. That is not what we will talk about. It is the symbols of faith and/or a version of faith that were on display that I’d like to discuss. If you would like to gather together to have a faith-filled conversation about the events of Jan. 6th, I invite you to join me on a zoom meeting on Thursday, Jan. 14th, from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm.
As a starting off point, please CLICK HERE, read an article and pray for our time together. I think the author does a good job reminding us of our call to holiness and how that call meets the events of last week. After all, as believers our goal is faithful living.
Please CLICK HERE to register your participation by Thursday at noon.
