Volunteer with Harrison UMC’s English Language Program

Harrison UMC has sponsored English as a Second Language for over 20 years, helping hundreds from around the world learn English through dedicated volunteers. Each school year, about 100 students participate, requiring 9-10 teachers and 6-7 assistants. Classes are held Tuesday and Thursday mornings (9:30-11:30 AM) and Monday and Thursday evenings (7:00-9:00 PM).

ESL needs volunteers for teachers and assistants. No teaching experience or foreign language skills are necessary. Local ESL workshops are available for those interested in training, though it is not required. Most teachers gain experience by working with the current team.

If you’re interested, have questions, or want to volunteer, please contact Betsy Harrington.
